MySite
Everyone on Bluefuse can build their own MySite.
The MySite builder is a simple and powerful way to express yourself. It lets you add text, upload pictures, embed videos and other multimedia, insert a comment box and setup an internal email tool.
With a bit of planning and design you can build an attractive and informative personal website.
The default MySite comes with 2 prebuilt pages that you can fill in. You can use these or make your own from scratch.
Make a new pageClick the 'Add Page' button to the right of the page tabs. You are prompted to enter a name for this new page.
A new MySite page has 4 empty sections. By clicking the buttons in each section you add tools in the order that you click them. Each section can have as many tools as you like. But each page can only have one Comment Tool and one Message Tool.
Archive ToolThe Archive tool lets you redesign your MySite and still keep the work you have done.
Click the 'Edit Page' button to see the layout of your current page.
Scroll to the tool you wish to move and click on 'Archive Tool' at the bottom right of that tool. You are prompted to enter a name for this tool. Try to choose a name that reminds you of the tool's content as you can archive more than one at a time. Click 'Archive Now' to store the tool and remove it from the layout. Archive as many tools as necessary.
To restore the archived tool, choose the appropriate page and layout box then click the 'Show Archive' button at the bottom left of that layout box. A list of archived content appears below the button. Click on 'Add' next to the tool that you want to restore.
Remember that tools are always placed at the bottom of a layout box so to create a particular order of tools in one box you may need to archive them all then restore them in the desired order.
This is the main method of adding content. Think of it as a mini wordprocessor.
With this tool you can:
- Add a heading or footer to another tool. For instance if you want to introduce a video in the Media Tool place a Write-Up above or below it.
- Add a block of text. Text can be cut and pasted into Write-Up.
- Insert images from elsewhere on the web by using that images url. Easier than it sounds.
- Insert hyperlinks from your content to either other parts of your own MySite or to anywhere on the web. Also easier than it sounds.
With the Picture Tool you can either add a single picture to your page or build a full gallery of images. Each image can be tagged to enable easy searching. Add as many images as you like but each image must be less than 700Kb in size.
Is your photo too big?
Try this:
ResizeMyPicture.com- Click on the button 'Browse' and find the photo you want to make smaller.
- Next select the size you want. 600 pixels is good.
- Then choose a picture quality. Anything above 50% is fine for most photos.
- Hit 'Click here to resize'
- You should now see your resized photo.
- Click in the middle of the photo with the right hand mouse button and select 'save image as'. Type in a name for your photo and hit save.
- You now have a resized photo ready to upload.
A large range of embeddable content is available on the internet and can be used in your MySite. For example, next to every video on YouTube is a line of code labeled 'Embed'. If you copy that code into the MediaTool you will see that YouTube video in your own MySite.
The Comment ToolA very useful feature.
On any page of your MySite you can add one comment tool. For instance if you have a Picture Gallery of your favourite photos why not place a comment tool directly under it and see what people say?
The Mail/Message ToolWant to let your contacts send a message just to you? Drop this on your page and they can. Once you've received a message you can reply directly to them.
Skype IconAllows others on the network to contact you via Skype
Having Troubles with Skype ?Are you seeing a gray 'I'm offline' icon instead of a blue 'I'm online'?
To activate the Online icon:
Go to your Skype application (on your PC/MAC) Under the 'File' menu in Skype select 'Privacy...'.
Make sure the box next to 'Allow my status to be shown on the web' is ticked.
You should now see the blue 'I'm online' icon on your bluefuse MySite.
Promote.
This card is made automatically from your username and user picture. You are stuck with the name you chose when you signed up but you can change your picture in the 'account' page.
Your My Status message is displayed along the bottom of the card.
If you have a blog or a MySpace or Bebo page etc, then by simply copying the code to the right of your card and pasting into the appropriate place on those sites you add the card there. Try it out by using the 'Media tool' in your Bluefuse MySite.
My Account
Here you manage the details of your account.
If you want to change your picture, this is the place. Delete the existing one and find something else on your computer to upload No more than 500Kb in size though.
User DetailsIt's all changeable. The most useful are the Tags. Choose them right and they can help you connect with people of similar interests.
Delete AccountIf you really want to leave. Permanently. This is where you do it. Beware, it can't be reversed.
That's it. If you have any questions or problems send a message to admin.
